What happens here, and when
The urn is on
Doors open, same hour, all seven days. Coffee or tea, $1.00. Greek coffee, $1.75. The door opens at seven, and it opens at seven on a Sunday too.
Breakfast
Eggs, home fries, French toast, omelettes — it is what most of the photographs on this page are of, and it is the one part of the card we were not given. We would rather say so than guess a price.
The counter fills
20 burgers and turkey burgers, 9 over-stuffed wraps, 8 triple deckers and 7 heroes with names on them — The Beast, The Hungry Man, The Yankee, and The Briarwood, which is London broil with fried onions, mushrooms and brown gravy for $7.50.
Greek Corner
Gyro and chicken gyro on pita from $4.95, souvlaki, spinach pie, pastitsio and a Greek salad the card promises is dressed in olive oil and nothing else. The whole corner →
And that is the day
The awning says breakfast, lunch and dinner, and all three are true — the broiler, the seafood and the 20 entrees are on the card. They are simply served in daylight. Last order goes in before four.

The room
Five stools and a pass-through
A counter, a row of chrome swivel stools, and a window straight through to the range where the cooks work. Nothing about this room is trying to be anything else, which is the reason to sit in it.
There is a sidewalk deck out front as well — four tables under a blue canopy, planters along a new timber rail. Google's listing says this cafe has no outdoor seating. The photograph below says otherwise, and the photograph is the cafe's own.
Also true
A fountain, and a bus to Atlantic City
The card still runs a soda fountain: an egg cream at $1.95, a lime rickey at $1.75, ice cream sodas and milk shakes. Second awning on the side of the building advertises Atlantic City bus tickets. Neither of these facts appears anywhere on the internet today.
- Egg Cream$1.95
- Ice Cream Soda$3.75
- Milk Shakes$3.25
- Lime Rickey$1.75
- Cherry or Vanilla Soda$1.40
- Cappuccino or French Vanilla Coffee$1.45
Prices are taken verbatim from the cafe's own printed card. They have not been confirmed as current — Google lists a $10–$20 spend per head, which the card predates. Call (718) 297-7494 for today's prices.

The card
