Briarwood Cafe has 366 Google reviews and no website. These are three complete replacement sites built from the same source of truth — the printed card, the Google listing, and ten photographs. Same facts in all three. Different layout, palette, typography and motion stack in each.

A fixed left sidebar shaped like the green ticket a waitress leaves on the table. It never scrolls away from the four things that matter: open or closed right now, address, phone, hours. The page beside it runs the day as a timeline — 7 AM, breakfast, midday, Greek Corner, 4 PM — and a marker tracks your position down the check.

Best if the job is to get someone through the door today.

The sidebar costs 21rem of width on desktop, so the menu columns are narrower than in the other two.

The cup that talks

Counter

One column, full-bleed photography, very large type, and a low-poly glazed coffee cup with a Greek key band built in three.js sitting bottom-right. It turns to face each section and says one true sentence about it — including the one admitting we cannot price the eggs. Falls back to a flat drawing with no WebGL and disappears entirely with no JavaScript, losing nothing.

Best if the site has to be memorable, not just useful.

One issue of a neighbourhood paper: masthead, dateline, three-column lead, halftone plates with the credit printed underneath, a boxed Hours & Service classified, and a standing Corrections column. The menu sets as a bill of fare with leader dots. No WebGL, no scrub — it gets to premium on typography alone, and it prints.

Best if it has to still look right in eight years.

Open questions for the owner

  1. Is the supplied card current? Every price on the site comes from it.
  2. What year did the cafe open? There is no est-line anywhere without one.
  3. Who is Spiro? Four menu sections carry the name and nothing else does.
  4. The sidewalk deck in the photographs — still there, and seasonal?
  5. Are the Atlantic City bus tickets still sold, and on what schedule?
  6. Is there a delivery radius, or does the phone number cover it?
